JDC Summer Camps so Far
It’s hard to believe that we’re already one third of the way into our summer vacation and summer camps!
The first week we were honored to host Camp Bruce Lee, thanks to the Bruce Lee Foundation and Ninja Ninja. Our students learned about martial arts, especially Bruce Lee’s jeet kun do, as well as Bruce Lee’s philosophical and mindfulness practices. In the video above, you can see some of our students breaking their boards at the end of the week!
The second week we had Art Week, where they learned about new kinds of art. They had fun learning new techniques, especially digital ones like the one that allowed them to generate music from their drawings. They also learned how fun art can be when they created a painting using squirt guns and watered-down paint.
Then was Olympics Week. Our students played games, made art projects, and learned about not only the physical but MENTAL talent involved in getting to the Olympics. This was especially true when they learned about Florence Joyner-Griffith: the fastest woman to ever live, winner of five Olympic medals, and childhood resident of Jordan Downs.
Next up, we’re magically shortening the week with our magic and illusion camp! (A clever misdirection from being closed for Independence Day!)
Also coming up is Pirate Camp, Animal Kingdom Camp, Superhero Cap, Magic Kingdom Camp, and Game Camp! Each will have fun and educational activities and projects, as well as a fun field trip.
