Olympics Week Field Trip
The Jordan Downs Center Summer Camps have new, relevant themes each week. As we anxiously look forward to the 2024 Summer Olympics, we hosted our own Olympics Week! Our students played games, made art projects, and learned about not only the physical but MENTAL talent involved in getting to the Olympics. This was especially true when they learned about Florence Joyner-Griffith: the fastest woman to ever live, winner of five Olympic medals, and childhood resident of Jordan Downs.
Our top Summer Camp students were taken to Golf' n’ Stuff for a field trip, considering that golf is a summer olympic sport and mini golfing is fun for everyone! The location was also featured in the movie The Karate Kid—with Karate being another summer sport, and harkening back to Camp Bruce Lee.
The students were recognized with a pizza party and ice cream, then took part in 18 holes of miniature golf, and finished the day at the arcade earning prizes.
